Every pet deserves the chance to live a healthy, happy life. Yet for many families, access to basic veterinary care remains out of reach.
This year’s Mandela Day, Dotsure partnered with WanderVet Animal Welfare Organisation in Pretoria to deliver a pet sterilisation and vaccination program directly to an underserved community in Sonheuwel. Alongside life-changing treatment, the initiative prioritised community education on pet health, helping pet parents continue care long after the outreach ended.

An Outreach Project That Creates Long-Term Impact
During the outreach, the WanderVet team successfully sterilised 42 dogs and cats.
Every furry friend also received:
- Essential vaccinations
- Parasite control treatments
- Nutritious food, a toy, and a warm blanket
Perhaps most impressively, the campaign achieved zero surgical complications, an outstanding result for a high-volume sterilisation drive and a testament to the expertise and preparation of a compassionate veterinary team.
While the numbers tell an important story, the greatest impact will be felt in the months and years ahead.
Sterilisation helps reduce unwanted litters, easing pressure on non-profit animal welfare organisations while improving the long-term wellbeing of pets and the families who care for them. Vaccinations help protect both animals and communities from preventable diseases, while parasite treatment improves overall quality of life.

Why Big-Hearted Vets Are Important for the Community
For Dr Annarie Greyling, founder of WanderVet Animal Welfare Organisation, veterinary medicine has always been about far more than treating individual animals.
“Every owner we met loved their animals deeply. They weren’t lacking compassion; they were lacking access. Seeing the gratitude on their faces and knowing we could provide care without financial constraints was incredibly rewarding.”
She believes veterinarians have the privilege of strengthening communities as much as they improve animal welfare.
That philosophy inspired WanderVet’s outreach model, which removes barriers to veterinary care by taking services directly to communities where they are needed most. Rather than simply providing treatment for a day, each outreach focuses on building trust and empowering pet parents with practical knowledge they can use every day.
Partnerships That Create Lasting Change
Medication, surgical equipment, transport, food, logistics, and funding all play a vital role in reaching communities that might otherwise never have access to these resources.
At Dotsure, we believe every pet deserves the opportunity to live a healthier life. That’s why we support initiatives that promote responsible pet parenting and strengthen the communities these families call home.
Because when we care together, everyone benefits.
