Dotsure has been recognised as one of the “Corporates That Care” on 702 Breakfast with Bongani Bingwa, following an interview with Dotsure Chief Commercial Officer Glen Anderson about the company’s work supporting people, pets, and communities across South Africa.
The weekly feature highlights businesses making a difference through their corporate social investment (CSI) initiatives. Following the 10-minute live interview on 30 September, Glen was presented with a certificate on behalf of Primedia Cares.
Beyond Providing Insurance
“We believe we are a purpose-led business,” Glen told Bongani Bingwa during the interview. “The reason we do this, and the reason our founder got into insurance is to make a difference in the lives of our clients but also the communities we serve.”
That purpose extends beyond financial contributions. Dotsure supports initiatives across the country through partnerships, employee volunteering, and direct assistance.
Pets Receive Life-Changing Vet Care
Animal welfare is an important part of Dotsure’s CSI work, particularly in communities where access to veterinary services can be limited.
One prominent example was a sterilisation drive with the Garden Route SPCA, where 222 pets were sterilised.
Sterilisation helps to prevent unwanted litters and can reduce the number of animals born into circumstances where access to food, shelter, and veterinary care is already limited. It is one example of how supporting a single initiative can have benefits that extend well beyond the day itself.
Supporting Food Security
The company’s food-packing initiative has been running for 15 years, with employees volunteering their time to pack meals for people experiencing food insecurity. In 2026, the initiative surpassed 2,5 million meals.
For Glen, employee involvement is central to the way Dotsure approaches community support.
“If we take care of our employees first, we breed a culture of kindness that over time ripples into caring for those around us,” he said.
The result is a culture where employees are encouraged to contribute their time, reinforcing their employer’s resources.
Responding When Communities Need Help
Not every community need can be scheduled in advance. Dotsure has also provided support during emergencies, including the Mossel Bay and Knysna wildfires.
When the Victoria Street building collapse happened just three blocks from Dotsure’s offices in George, the company was able to respond immediately and assist with resources in support of the rescue efforts.
“We really wish we could do more and be everywhere at once,” Glen said. “So, we work hard at responding as quickly as possible in an emergency.”
For Dotsure, this ability to respond is an important part of being a responsible business in the community where it operates.
A Culture of Care
Being recognised for our efforts gives us an opportunity to reflect on the work happening across Dotsure, but the work itself continues.
From sterilising pets and packing meals to responding when disaster strikes, our CSI initiatives are about addressing real needs in practical ways.
We believe businesses have a role to play in strengthening the communities around them. For us, that means continuing to walk-the-talk, with our people, our partners, and our purpose all playing a part.
